Recent Project: Customer Services Systems Merger and Integration (Financial Institution)
A local bank required a project leader to work closely with a senior analyst and cross-department team as day to day PM. Their focus was to; manage upstream and downstream communication, establish risk and issue management, and provide executive sponsor consultation for a critical and time sensitive project with an outside vendor. The company was moderately small and required a part time Project Manager.
LCG placed a seasoned professional PM at 0.2 FTE to provide necessary guidance and leadership to high performing team. In order to mitigate the risk regarding the financial impact of late delivery, the team established an aggressive execution timeline with stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery of solution. Our PM worked closely with team to collaboratively define work required and timeline with a bottom up approach to ensure team buy-in and success.
The PM provided project details and status to CEO on a regular basis allowing the CEO to stay informed without any direct project involvement. The project was delivered ahead of time allowing client to meet its contractual needs and avoid high cost of delay.
The client requested same PM to play a similar role on another internal project
On occasion a project can get off track and start to significantly impact resource effectiveness and morale. Frequent project restarts or resets can be troubling and may require a deeper look into causes.
We recommend having one of our seasoned project managers for a short engagement (typically 2-4 weeks) to objectively evaluate your governance, stakeholder representation, communication plan, resource commitments and budget. We'll further develop a risk profile for your project and give you the tools and summary you need to reposition the project. Get your critical projects back on track to achieve the success you desire.
Recent Project: Enterprise-wide Workstation Upgrade – (Non-profit foundation)
The client had 1,500 users in four international locations on end-of-life OS (Windows XP) which required immediate replacement including hardware and data transfer. A daytime migration was required during work hours due to building access with deployment engineers.
Lakemont Consulting brought in a Project Manager with with deep OS deployment experience to lead a team of four deployment technicians, and numerous engineer and project stakeholders. The team tackled 20 migrations per day, with all user data and applications and finished the migrations two months ahead of schedule. The scope of the project included full application compatibility study (required testing to mitigate move to new op systems), and full business readiness including communications and training. The PM and team were lauded for excellence in customer service as well as their recovery and donation of all out-of-warranty equipment, and their detailed project metrics and dashboard throughout the entire project.
Recent Project: SaaS Upgrade Methodology Development and Implementation (Non-Profit Foundation)
Our client implemented a Workday SaaS solution to handle back office requirements for Global Human Resources and Payroll, but needed an enterprise-wide methodology to handle and implement tri-annual software application updates. New process and procedures needed to be written for specific SaaS application while retrofitted to any future SaaS. The roll-out impacted all employees globally.
Lakemont placed a seasoned project manager with deep testing knowledge, methodology development experience, and extensive HR/payroll knowledge to facilitate solution. Lakemont’s project manager led a team of HR and Payroll in developing and implementing the end to end SaaS upgrade methodology. To support consistent implementation of new functionality, cycle steps were well defined, and consulting time was kept to a minimum (internal stakeholder support) to ensure solid transfer of new method to internal management. Since project completion, all cycles delivered using this upgrade implementation methodology and approach have been executed on time every time providing seamless change focused on those who are areas that were impacted.
Recent Project: Unified Communications Systems Integration (Non-Profit Foundation)
A major non-profit foundation was looking to switch its VoIP system to take advantage of broader Unified Communications (UC) benefits not offered by their legacy system. Logistics required worldwide implementation, while new world headquarters were being constructed and local satellite offices were being consolidated.
Chosen solution (MS Lync) would be one of the first major installations of this new product. The project included multiple work streams, multiple locations with working teams, multiple time-zones to coordinate, and over a thousand users needing training. The goal was to define and execute a program to migrate all staff to a new, untried phone system ensuring rapid user adoption and managing change while simultaneously populating a new building with hundreds of common-area phones.
Lakemont Consulting placed a Sr. Consulting Manager (CM), specializing in large technical infrastructure deployments, to manage the engagement. The CM led three teams: a design team (including a third-party specialist in UC solutions), an in-house IT infrastructure team, and a deployment technician’s team to serve as "boots-on-the-ground" support for both handset deployment and training. Working with the in-house team, the CM developed the plan to deploy new infrastructure and associated training to headquarters staff, while simultaneously deploying common area phones, and infrastructural components to a new facility under construction for the duration of the engagement. The CM designed the end-user training program, and conducted train-the-trainer sessions with the deployment tech team to instigate a robust, repeatable installation sequence that ensured both large scale end-user adoption, and satisfaction during the installation session.
At completion, the project delivered a fully-functional, highly-available Lync Enterprise Voice phone system, allowing the institution to meet, collaborate, and make traditional phone calls all from one system.
